Fall Coat Drive

What can you do to help your downtrodden neighbors in need this winter?

At Mars Hill’s Downtown Campus we’re looking for lots of heavy winter coats* to
give away at our annual Christmas Coat Lunch. We’re also collecting
gloves and hats for distribution. Do you have a winter coat that you
can donate? How about setting up a box in your condo or at your workplace
and collecting any winter coats, hats, and gloves that people would like
to donate, or ask your friends and family if they have one lying around unused.

You can drop off your donations at the Mars Hill Downtown Campus at 2333 Western Ave, all day on Sunday, or from 10-5 Monday through Thursday. We need more than 400 coats, hats and gloves. Last year we ran out of coats-especially men’s coats-and this year we want plenty to go around!

The Christmas Coat Lunch is a display of compassion toward our neighbors in downtown Seattle who may want a lunch, some fellowship, and a coat in the midst of winter. We will open our doors and arms to demonstrate the love of Christ by sharing these tangible things with our neighbors in need.

The event is on December 12, 2009.

This is awesome! I’m going to click the link and go to the Plaza and from there post this on my Facebook so I can get my friends involved.

We have a bunch of coats to share. This is a terrific way to show the love of Christ to those in need! I would like to help out at the luncheon in any way that’s required.
Marcus Tabert
Are you accepting all sizes of coats (i.e. kids and adult)? Do you only want heavy winter jackets, or will you take lighter, fall jackets work as well?
Julie Hubert
We’ll take everything we can get. The need is great. Those that aren’t used on the day of (if there are any) will go to other local organizations in need of them. So bring um all!

Yahoo! Thank you Robyn!

Our community group is going to bring 21 coats! We have already dropped off 7 so far, so 14 more to go.

We challenge other community groups to drop off one coat per person in your group!

I’ve placed a box in the break room at my work; does anyone know if they need to be dropped off at MH by November 29th or December 12th? I should know for sure to communicate this to my coworkers soon. Thanks.

I volunteer at the Ballard Campus and a gal just dropped off two bags of gently used coats. They are currently at the Kid’s entrance desk. Where should we send them?
Steven Garrett
Cliff;

The downtown campus has two large collection boxes setup, just inside their front door. That might be the place to to take them, since the Coat Lunch giveaway will also be hosted there, later this month.

We are there during the week between 10am & 5pm Mon-Thur. Send me a message on the city if you want to clarify someone will be there. Back entrance is best (in the alley way)
